Official position issued late on October 27
The Ministry of Civil Aviation reviewed aviation safety and operational readiness ahead of Cyclone Arnab. Its notice, issued at 11:14 p.m. IST on October 27, said flights to and from coastal Andhra Pradesh and southern Odisha were expected to be the most affected.
Airport status
- Visakhapatnam: flight operations were suspended from the afternoon of October 27.
- Vijayawada and Rajahmundry: all flight operations were suspended after 7 p.m. on October 27.
- Bhogapuram: the Delhi–Bhogapuram–Delhi service for October 28 was cancelled.
- Bhubaneswar services may also be heavily affected. Hyderabad, Varanasi, Prayagraj and Gorakhpur may see knock-on delays depending on the cyclone’s track.
Advice for passengers
- Check the flight status through the airline website, app, helpline or SMS before leaving for the airport.
- Do not travel to the airport unless the flight is confirmed.
- Allow extra travel time because waterlogging and road closures may affect coastal Andhra Pradesh and Odisha.
- Raise unresolved complaints with the airline first and then through the government’s AirSewa portal or app.
