Mumbai, October 5, 2026: Indian benchmark equity indices opened higher on Monday, attempting a rebound after eight consecutive weeks of losses.
At 10:06 a.m. IST, the BSE Sensex was up 0.62% at 72,359.72, while the Nifty 50 had risen 0.56% to 22,545.25, according to the morning market report. The levels are time-specific and can change during trading.
Reports attributed the improved sentiment mainly to lower crude-oil prices and reduced expectations of an aggressive US Federal Reserve rate increase. Banking, financial and information-technology shares contributed to the rise. The RBI’s monetary-policy decision, due October 7, also remains in focus.
