From November 1, eligible non-commercial vehicle owners living within 20 km of a National Highway fee plaza can choose a new annual FASTag concessional local pass.
The provision was notified through the fifth amendment to the National Highways Fee Rules. A valid, functional FASTag is required.
Fees and eligibility
- Fee plaza outside municipal or local-town limits: ₹1,500 a year.
- Fee plaza within those limits: ₹3,000 a year.
- The pass is valid only at the specific fee plaza for which it is issued and cannot be transferred to another plaza.
- Eligible owners may choose either the existing monthly pass or the new annual concessional pass.
The pass will not be issued for National Highways or expressways using a closed user-fee collection system. It is also unavailable where a service road or alternative road can be used.
The pass will be available at eligible toll plazas from November 1. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways said it will be available through the Rajmargyatra app from December 1. The Central Government may revise the rates annually on April 1.
