District advice focuses on drainage, banana support and securing greenhouses during heavy rain.

The Nilgiris District Administration issued a horticulture advisory on 28 October 2026, asking farmers to take precautions during the northeast monsoon. The recommendations aim to reduce damage from rain and wind; they are precautionary guidance, not a report of damage at a particular farm.

  • Maintain drainage so rainwater does not remain stagnant in fields.
  • Support banana plants and secure greenhouse and shade-net structures against strong winds.
  • Remove unsafe dry branches and take care around trees and structures.
  • Avoid applying fertilisers or pesticides during heavy rain; seek appropriate advice on resuming applications when conditions improve.
