Attractions were open by 27 October after heavy rain, but the landslide-hit road through Coonoor remained shut that evening.

Tourist attractions in the Nilgiris were open again by Tuesday, 27 October 2026, following a three-day rain-related closure. DT Next reported low visitor numbers because road and rail connectivity remained disrupted.

As of the evening of 27 October, the Mettupalayam–Coonoor–Ooty road remained closed after landslips and fallen trees. The Times of India reported that technical inspections of unstable slopes were needed before reopening. Vehicles were being diverted via Kotagiri at that time.

No official confirmation of the road’s status for the afternoon of 28 October was available in this review. Travellers should check the latest district advisories before departure.
