New Delhi, October 6, 2026: The Union Ministry of Rural Development has notified 375 categories of permissible work under the Viksit Bharat–Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin), or VB–G RAM G, expanding the rural works framework by 41% from the previous list of 266 works.
The official schedule groups the work into four areas: 128 water-security works, 111 core rural-infrastructure works, 98 livelihood-related infrastructure works and 38 works for extreme-weather mitigation and disaster preparedness.
Farmers and vulnerable households
The list includes 181 agriculture and allied works, of which 52 are for individual beneficiaries. These cover water, land development, plantations, livestock and other productive assets. A further 107 works are tagged for Antyodaya or vulnerable households, including 68 individual-beneficiary works relating to housing, sanitation, energy, irrigation, plantations and livestock shelters.
The schedule also identifies 36 works linked to Nari Shakti and 36 linked to Yuva Shakti. These include infrastructure for women’s collectives, self-help groups and federations, as well as youth centres, skill development and enterprise-linked facilities.
Accessibility, climate resilience and local planning
Provisions include accessibility works such as stairs and ramps in government buildings, renewable-energy infrastructure, greywater treatment and waste-to-wealth recycling. Disaster-related works include relief shelters, flood-mitigation structures, post-disaster repair of rural roads and assets, retaining walls, forest-fire lines and animal-protection trenches.
Projects are to be selected through Viksit Gram Panchayat Plans based on local needs and approved by the Gram Sabha. The ministry said digital tracking through the Viksit Bharat National Rural Infrastructure Stack is intended to coordinate central, state and local investments and reduce duplication.
